Keep Your Business Spotless with This Cleaning Service Checklist

If you’re running a business in 2020, you know how important it is to stay on top of CDC guidelines. Wearing masks and staying six feet apart from one another is a great way to keep your employees safe, but nothing beats disinfection.

While you may have handled the day-to-day cleaning on your own in the past, now is the time to hire a cleaning service to take care of your office for you.

Cleaning services should offer the most up-to-date and thorough cleaning techniques available today. How can you make sure they’re up to snuff?

This cleaning service checklist will tell you everything you need to know about what a cleaning service should be doing to keep your business clean.

The Front Entrance or Reception Area

The front entrance or reception area gives you a chance to make a good first impression on clients and customers. Under normal circumstances, you want it to look clean and inviting. Now, you want to make sure that is a safe area for everyone to pass through.

The door, both inside and out, should be cleaned and the handles disinfected. If there are any countertops, coffee tables, or other high-touch areas, these must also be cleaned.

Areas that are not high-touch should not be forgotten! That means that floors need vacuuming and mopping and area rugs need straightening. In addition, you want to see that light fixtures, blinds, vents, and fans are dust-free.

Cubicles and Shared Office Spaces

Hiring a cleaning service doesn’t just protect your customers and clients. It also protects your employees, who will have to spend the most time out of their week in your business space.

Back in the office space, you’re going to have a ton of high-touch surfaces. These include desks, phone receivers, chair arms, doorknobs, and light switches or thermostat dials. It also includes your employees’ computers, monitors, keyboards, and mouses.

Your cleaning service should disinfect all of these surfaces. They should also make sure to empty all trash cans, remove the liners, and disinfect both the inside and outside of the can before replacing the liner and bag.

Once again, you want to see a mopped or vacuumed floor, dust-free blinds and vents, and cleaned glass.

Breakrooms and Kitchen Areas

The breakroom and kitchen area need special attention at a time like this, given that your employees are most likely to remove their masks in this area. Plus, you want them to feel safe eating and drinking in this part of your office or workspace.

A good cleaning service will begin with any necessary tidying. They will wash used dishes or throw away disposable ones. If asked, they will also empty the fridge of old or unclaimed food products–don’t forget to label anything you want to keep!

Even if you don’t want to throw out any food products, your cleaning service will remove the products in order to disinfect all shelves before replacing the products. Next, they will disinfect the outside of the fridge, the microwave, the countertops, and the sink. Once again, they will pay close attention to high-touch surfaces like the fridge door handle and the microwave buttons.

Your cleaning service should take care of both the trash cans and recycling bins you keep in the breakroom or kitchen area. They will dispose of the contents properly before disinfecting them.

Bathrooms

Believe it or not, public restrooms aren’t as germ-riddled as you may think. Most of the germs you’ll encounter in a bathroom are rendered harmless before you ever even touch them.

However, when dealing with a virus, we have to take extra precautions. Because the coronavirus is a new disease, the CDC is still unsure of how long it can live on hard surfaces. Unlike most bathroom germs, the coronavirus may be able to stick around for hours or even days.

Fortunately, a good cleaning service will disinfect your business’s bathrooms from top to bottom!

Door handles, stall doors, and every part of the toilet need disinfecting. That means the toilet lid, seat, bowl, base, and handle. Bathroom trashcans and sanitary product dispensers must be emptied and disinfected before the bags or liners are replaced.

In addition, your cleaning service must disinfect the taps, faucets, sinks, soap dispensers, and countertops. They should also disinfect the air dryer and/or paper towel dispenser and replace paper towels and soap when necessary.

It is important that the floors are sufficiently mopped and disinfected, as well. Bathroom floors tend to need a deeper cleaning than the floors in other parts of the office.

Finally, your cleaning service should clean the mirrors over the sink both to disinfect them and remove any smudges or impurities.
